Tackle global problems with practical, innovative solutions.

Each year the Clinton Global Initiative University hosts a meeting for students, national youth organizations, and university officials to discuss solutions to pressing global issues. Last year more than 1,000 students representing 318 schools, 60 countries, and all 50 states attended the CGI U meeting, along with nearly 100 university administrators and almost 70 leaders of national youth organizations.

The third annual CGI U meeting, which is hosted by President Bill Clinton, will be held at the University of Miami from April 16-18, 2010. At this meeting, nearly 1,500 attendees will come together to make a difference in CGI U’s five focus areas: Education, Environment an Climate Change, Peace and Human Rights, Poverty Alleviation, and Public Health.

CGI U actively seeks a range of students who have a variety of experiences, interests, talents, and goals. All students who wish to attend must submit an application. Each application is thoroughly reviewed by the CGI U team.

As a prerequisite of attending the CGI U meeting, students must develop their own Commitment to Action within any of the five focus areas: a specific plan of action that addresses a pressing challenge on the campus, in the community, or in a different part of the world. To ensure quality, every CGI U commitment must be new, specific, and measurable and can be either an individual commitment or a group commitment.

The final application deadline has been extended to February 22, 2010.

Applications are reviewed as they are received.
