Apply to Become a Table Facilitator

The Clinton Global Initiative University (CGI U) is looking for a limited number of highly qualified candidates to serve as table facilitators during its third annual meeting, April 16th to 18th, 2010, at the University of Miami.

On Saturday, April 17th, CGI U will convene two working sessions for the 1,200 students attending the event. Each session will consist of an expert panel followed by small roundtable discussions led by a table facilitator. A qualified facilitator should have knowledge of one of CGI Uā€™s five global challenge areas (education, environment and climate change, peace and human rights, poverty alleviation, or public health) and experience working with one of the three approaches listed below to address one of the five areas.

  • Advocacy and Media ā€“ Awareness-building and information sharing through outreach campaigns, events, dialogue, and digital communication.
  • Community Development ā€“ Implementation of projects and services through local partnerships and community participation.
  • Education and Training ā€“ Capacity-building through educational resources and opportunities, mentorship, and skill development.

Facilitators are essential to providing attendees with an engaging and interactive experience. As such, CGI U is looking for only those exemplary candidates who are best suited for the role. The criteria include:

  • Capacity and presence to effectively facilitate group dialogue, elicit discussion within a diverse group, and build consensus as necessary, all within the limited time available.
  • Knowledge in one of the following working session topic areas: education, environment and climate change, public health, peace and human rights, or poverty alleviation.
  • Experience with one of the following approaches to solving global challenges: advocacy and media, community development, education and training.
  • Availability to facilitate discussions in both the morning and afternoon working sessions on April 17th, as well as a training session in the afternoon or evening of April 16th (time TBD).
  • Understanding that this is a volunteer role and CGI U or the University of Miami will not be able to pay the costs for travel and/or accommodations. Due to space limitations, CGI U or the University of Miami cannot guarantee access to any events at the meeting other than the two working sessions.
  • Flexibility to adapt to any changes that arise. This may include switching global challenges/approaches if necessary.
