Open Enrollment Begins October 17
The University of Miami’s Open Enrollment period begins October 17 and runs through November 4. During that time, faculty and staff can enroll or make changes to medical, dental, flexible spending, and short-term disability benefits. In 2012 employees can expect no increases in copays or deductibles and modest medical premium increases. | more

Annual Great Sports Legends Dinner Raises More Than $10 Million for Spinal Cord Injury Research
The 26th Annual Great Sports Legends Dinner, held at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York City on September 26, raised more than $10 million to support groundbreaking spinal cord injury research by the Miller School of Medicine’s Miami Project to Cure Paralysis. | more
The Launch Pad Wins Grand Prize at MetroBroward Lighthouse Awards
The Launch Pad, the University’s Miami unique entrepreneurship initiative, won a Grand Prize from the Metro Broward Economic Development Corporation at the recent MetroBroward Lighthouse Awards, which recognize the outstanding contributions of organizations that have made an impact on the success of regional small businesses in the areas of advocacy, consulting assistance, and start-up assistance. | more
HOPE’s Online Auction Starts Today
The Helping Others through Pro Bono Efforts (HOPE) Public Interest Resource Center’s 13th annual online auction opens today, October 3, with an auction reception to be held on Thursday, October 27. The auction is the organization’s primary annual fundraising event, providing a critical source of funding for the HOPE Fellows Program. | more

Festival Miami Gets Under Way
The Frost School of Music’s renowned Festival Miami got under way on October 1 with the Frost Symphony Orchestra performing a bold and brassy French horn celebration of music by Franz Haydn, composer Gunther Schuller, and Frost faculty artist Richard Todd. More concerts and performances are on tap this week, as the festival picks up steam. | more
