Faculty and staff invited to attend Global Business Forum panel sessions at no cost
The stage is set for the University of Miami Global Business Forum, January 12-14, which will feature top business and government leaders such as U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius and General Electric Chairman and CEO Jeffrey R. Immelt. UM faculty and staff who have not registered for the entire three-day forum are invited to attend one or more of the 30 concurrent panel sessions at no cost. Also, several of the key sessions will be streamed live to the Miller School campus. | more

The Breakthrough Medicine series, which provides viewers the opportunity to go inside a university-based health system and share in the remarkable breakthroughs being made on campus each day, will be airing Saturdays in January at 7 p.m. on Channel 10 (ABC-WPLG). | more

UM voicemail successfully upgraded; training videos and webinars to be offered
Telecommunications has successfully upgraded the Communité Messaging Interaction Center, instituting several improvements to the voicemail system. Training videos and a brochure of features are available, and a series of webinars have been scheduled to familiarize employees with the upgraded system. | more

Eight Hurricanes invited to 2011 NFL Combine
The University of Miami football team will have more than half of its departing senior class represented at the 2011 NFL Combine. Eight players—Allen Bailey, Matt Bosher, Damien Berry, Graig Cooper, Leonard Hankerson, Orlando Franklin, Colin McCarthy, and DeMarcus Van Dyke—have been invited to represent UM at the Combine, which will be held from February 23 through March 1 in Indianapolis, Indiana. | more

    The Faculty and Staff Assistance Program will offer a lunchtime seminar titled "The Pursuit of Happiness." Although elusive for many, happiness continues to be a very sought-after experience.
