University of Miami Family Night with the Marlins:
Frequently Asked Questions

As we approach the University of Miami Family Night with the Marlins, several questions are sure to arise. In an attempt to answer as many of those questions as possible, a “Frequently Asked Questions” list has been compiled and provided below. If a specific concern is not addressed in the FAQ list, please do not hesitate to call 305-284-2862.

Q . I have a UM ID card. Am I eligible to participate?
A. Not necessarily. This event is intended for all regular faculty and staff. The emphasis is on the word regular. If this definition is unclear, please consult with your department’s HR representative.

Q . What do I get when I show up on a ticket distribution day?
A. Each regular faculty and staff receives one free ticket and can purchase up to three additional tickets at $1 each. Each ticket comes with a food voucher which entitles the recipient to a complimentary hot dog, soda, and chips. (Note: Additional tickets beyond this can be purchased but will not include food vouchers. This is explained below.)

Q . Are checks or credit cards accepted for payment?
A. No. Only cash will be accepted.

Q . Will tickets be distributed on a first come, first serve basis? Do I have to get to the ticket distribution site early in order to get a ticket?
A. No to both questions. All regular employees are eligible and if interested will be able to obtain tickets. In order to accommodate as many people as possible and address potential scheduling conflicts, multiple distribution dates have been scheduled at each campus. Not everyone needs to show up on the first distribution day. By the same token, we hope not everyone shows up on the last day.

Q . Will I be able to pick up tickets for my department or colleagues, so long as I bring everyone’s UM ID?
A. No. Only one UM ID card per person will be permitted.

Q . How about if I want to sit next to one of my colleagues at the event?
A. At the ticket distribution sessions you will have the opportunity to exchange multiple groups of tickets for a single set of tickets with seating that is together. For example, if you have three tickets and a colleague has two tickets, both you and your colleague can go to the ticket exchange table and receive a single set of five tickets. It is important to emphasize, that both you and your colleague need to be present with tickets in hand for the exchange to take place.

Q . If I am bringing a young child, does he/she need a ticket?
A. Any child age 2 and over must have a ticket.

Q . Can I purchase additional tickets?
A. Yes. Each regular employee can receive one free ticket and can purchase up to three additional tickets for a $1 each. If you desire to obtain more than the maximum of four (1 free + 3 additional), then additional tickets will be available at $6 each. The $6 tickets will be available at the ticket exchange table to facilitate seating requests if needed.

Q . Can I purchase additional food vouchers beyond my allotted number?
A. No. However, there is a wide variety of food and beverages available for purchase at the stadium.

Q . If I need additional tickets, may I go to more than one ticket distribution session?
A. No. You can only receive tickets at a single ticket distribution session. This includes the additional tickets at $6 a piece.

Q . Is parking included with the tickets?
A. Parking costs $10 and is not included.

Q . Where do I enter the stadium on the day of the event?
A. All open entrances will accept your ticket. The pre-game festivities will be located at Gate D. You are not required to enter at Gate D to participate. More information on the day’s event will follow.

Q . Where do I redeem my food voucher?
A. Signs will identify the concession stands throughout the stadium that will accept the UM vouchers.
